Welcome to the Bulleid 4DD Double Deck EMU Supporters Group website.

Designed by OVS Bulleid in 1949 for the then South Eastern Section, Southern Region of the newly nationalised British Railways. The 4-DD Double Deck units were a unique experiment in UK train design, an experiment which carried on in service for over 20 years. The trains were withdrawn in 1971, and only two coaches from one of the units remain both in poor condition and in need of some care and attention.

This website is dedicated to the history of the 4-DD Class Electric Multiple Units. It supports the Facebook interest Group

The group will be attending the following exhibition. Do come along and say hello. If you have any old Transport Books (not magazines please) to donate then bring them along, we may have a book on sale you may wish to purchase. Also we do not mind helping you to get rid of all your old £10 notes in our donation tin (coins also accepted).

Click above for details.
If you have an interest in the 4-DD units, or any photographs or memories of the unit either in service or in later life that we could use please let us know via the Yahoo Group. Any photographs used will remain copyright of the owner.

We would like to thank the following individuals for permission to use their photos on the site.
